A Lonely FLower by the road

A flower by the Road

I was walking on a trail and saw this flower by the road, it was the only flower plant there! I wondered if it knew how beautiful it looked there, adorning the beauty of that space. Adding color! A following thought streamed in, is it feeling lonely, craving kinship?

Yet, I don’t know exactly what that flower’s thoughts are, or is she just grateful that she exists or there is no thought at all?

All I know is that these are my thoughts observing her. I wonder do I need to think so much or not think at all, granting, I can’t help thinking and analyzing. To justify my thought process, I say, we are humans, the most analytical animal known to exist on this planet. So, it is only reasonable to go berserk! And here I thought that I was taking this walk to relax! The billion fallacies we tell ourselves in day 😊

With these thoughts, I kept walking and remembered a poem by Jessica Kissner:

Lovely Flower on your own,

Swaying gently in the breeze,

Sad you look standing there,

Without a friend in sight,

So I will plant these seeds so close,

Hopeful you will be alive,

As these seeds grow up and then

You will not be alone no more.

We observe and understand the world around us based on our feelings, but sometimes I wonder if what we perceive is the entire truth. What if that flower is happy just the way it is? what if it wants a different kind of flower or another weed by its side? We wouldn’t know what her destiny is. We keep doing things based on our perception. Sometimes it aligns with nature, sometimes it doesn’t. The times it aligns or misaligns it can be beautiful or chaotic. Again, we wouldn’t know. Perhaps, it is better not to think too much or overthink it, again we wouldn’t know.

All this is too much to process and it’s beating my purpose of taking a relaxed walk. So, I leave the thought there, with the gratitude that it came and left at the right time. And I just was an observer!

Thank You, you lovely flower!

I hope to see you again on the same side of the road. Till then …. keep blooming!  Because I need you to bloom for us!

Yours,

Chitu
